History – 25 years of training dogs from all over The North West!
Guy Richardson, former Police Dog Handler with Merseyside Police founded West Lancs Canine Centre with his wife Jean in 1989.
Guy started taking one to one training sessions at the centre. Within 1 year he had 4 weekly classes, within 5 years he had 16 weekly classes and one of the most reputable dog training establishments in the North West.
In 1992 Guy founded The West Lancs Dog Display Team, a handful of hardened dedicated customers who came together with Guy to form a team demonstrating everything offered at the training centre; Obedience, Agility, Security Training and fun exercises. WLDDT, we are very proud to say is still running today, performing & entertaining people all over the U.K. with their unique & fun filled antics! It is also through WLDDT that we have helped raise tens of thousands of pounds over the past 20 odd years for animal charities such as; Animals In Need, Freshfield Animal Rescue & The Dogs Trust.
In the year 2003 Guys son Craig came on board and the centre started offering multiple services including; Classes, Day Care, One to One Training, Behaviour Development & Holiday Care. It was also around this time that we started offering The Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme.
Things progressed from there and WLCC maintained and grew its position as one of the U.K`s leading dog training facilities. In 2010 Guy semi-retired to solely focus on Expert Witness work within the U.K & Craig took over the training centre.
Over the past 25 years we offer thanks to everyone that has supported us, our loyal long term staff & volunteers including past & present members of West Lancs Dog Display Team & of course all of our past & present customers.
