Specialist Obedience

Specialist / Competitve obedience can be enjoyed by dogs and owners at all levels of training. By doing something different you can improve the relationship you have with your dog and have some fun along the way! You can come for fun or to progress to competition – we encourage you to make your own mind up. Remember that enjoying training your dog is the main thing for both you & us!

A word from our instructor

Hi, my name is Andrea Little and I have the pleasure of owning 3 border collies.  I train and compete in Obedience and have worked my way up from Pre Beginners to Championship level.

I started off at West Lancs Canine Centre as a member of the original dog display team before I got the bug and decided to concentrate solely on obedience.   Competition obedience is equivalent to dressage within the horse world and involves teaching very precise exercises.

I currently judge at all levels and also judge the Good Citizen Dog Scheme, Bronze, Silver & Gold.  I have been invited several times to judge in Holland which has been a fantastic experience and an honour.

I have attended several training courses over the years from pet obedience to competitive obedience, learning new methods of training dogs.  I am now a great believer in motivational, reward based positive training methods.  All dogs and owners gain so much from training in this way and the bond between handler and dog becomes much stronger.

To find out more about what we are about, come and visit us in our dedicated training facility at WLCC in Formby, not far from Southport, Liverpool and Ormskirk.
